In 1869 the Excelsior Homestead was created. but it took the 1906 San Francisco earthquake to introduce this verdant, sunny area to early dairy and truck farmers. Following this bit of history, you'll have to see it to appreciate it, but preliminarily, check out the photos. The house looks small, but once inside you're in for a treat -- space, the final frontier. In any case, it could use upgrades and maybe you can also take advantage of the large lot. One of the many unique charms of this neighborhood is its streets, named for the capitals of countries, and its avenues, named for the countries themselves, a marketing idea of the builders.
